Since the last Newsletter things from a development point of view have been relatively slow because we did not know just how the Bridleway, which is part of the A1 upgrade, was going to effect us.

Having said that we have progressed :-

*  A further 1000 daffodils have been planted

* At last the proposed shrub bed at the top of  Bowcliffe Road Has been planted up. All the shrubs were     provided free of charge by Leeds City Council Floral Initiative

* The Bottle Bank has been upgraded thanks to a grant from East North East Management Team

Yorkshire in Bloom

This is a major task, and it was with some trepidation that we entered the Village into the 2007 Yorkshire in Bloom Competition. Much to our delight the Village was given a Silver Award which meant that it was judged to be Above Average and we maintained this level in 2008.  We have again entered in 2009 and the first judging was in April.  The second and final judging will be on the 17th of July and their comments and final grading will be shown in the Parish Magazine.

This is an important competition because it judges the Village not just Bramham in Bloom and this naturally raise the profile of the Village as a whole

Future Projects

There is always the tendency to go on and on planting in all the spare areas but Villages that have done this tend to change the nature of the Village. With this in mind we feel that the present development is about right for Bramham and the Yorkshire in Bloom judges thought so too.

Ÿ       Discussions to refurbish the War Memorial are still ongoing and are now being progressed by the Parish Council

Ÿ       Refurbishment of the Square is a longer term project and one again that has been taken over by the Parish Council

Ÿ       Bulb planting is an ongoing project and will continue some time into the future

Ÿ       Current planting will be developed and upgraded as necessary

Financing

This is mainly through sponsorship also mainly from resident and they have our thanks. Please try and support  them whenever possible.

We also have a collection jar in the Village Stores

Our Helpers

There are around 25 to 30 people actively involved in all our projects but we can always do with extra help.

As mentioned in in the previous Annual Newsletter we like to encourage young people to become involved in all that we do and we now have four family groups helping us, an additional one from last year.
